Statement about the work
This work captures the essence of desert plants. The forms and texture of cacti have been rendered through the sculpting process. I consider that there is an aesthetic beauty in the distilled image. I derive a great deal of satisfaction in engaging in artistic processes that examine an idea or perception and ultimately reduce it to an essential meaning and image. That said, while a particular meaning may be apparent to me in the work, it is also satisfying when my work may be read differently.
