Addiction – The Rise of Social Media

Addiction: Addiction: Influenced by his architectural and photography skills, Swiss-French local Andre Braun explores our obsession with touchscreen devices, and exploring our growing addiction towards technology. This sculpture explores our growing dependency for touchscreen devices, expressed here with a number of enlarged mobile shaped structure. A reflection of our obsession with memories digitally recorded, allowing the visitors to ironically taking pictures using their own smart devices in front of those enlarged framed “smartphone silhouettes”, and to share with others. Our society has become obsessed to remember everything we see and do, to capture the moment in time that we will never experience again and share all our experiences on a daily basis. The ability to keep all our precious moment in one very small space has never happen before in human history. This Artwork seek to reflect on that unique precedent. Our mobile phones have become an extension of ourselves, and hard to live without it and becomes a reflection on the need to document everything around us. ”The human spirit must prevail over technology.” Albert Einstein Andre Braun has been exhibiting in various locations around Australia and his work combines architecture, photography, street art, and sculpture. This Artwork is based on a previous similar artwork produced in 2021 and recently exhibited at sculpture by the sea 2023.
